India, Sept. 14 -- Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton left the US Open final with very different results on the court, but both walked away with major paydays from the year's final Grand Slam. Zverev defeated Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium to win his first US Open title and his second Grand Slam of 2026. The German earned the largest prize money in the history of the tournament for lifting the trophy.

Shelton, meanwhile, earned $2.8 million as the runner-up. The 23-year-old American was playing in his first Grand Slam final after reaching the last four at the US Open in 2023.
