India, Aug. 26 -- The US is putting a temporary pause on plans for additional strikes against Iran as the Trump administration shifts its focus toward sanctions, maritime enforcement and pressure on the Strait of Hormuz. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has informed several allied foreign ministers that Washington does not currently plan to launch fresh attacks on Tehran 'for the time being,' according to Axios.

The change comes as Washington tries to increase pressure on Iran without immediately expanding the military campaign. The US plans to use new economic measures and its naval presence around Hormuz while seeking to keep oil shipments moving through the strategic waterway.
