India, Aug. 25 -- Tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified after the United States announced another round of sanctions aimed at squeezing Iran's economy. Tehran has responded with threats of retaliation, warning that further pressure could trigger attacks against American interests and key energy routes.

The latest measures were announced by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday, August 24. The Treasury Department designated 60 individuals, entities and vessels, while stopping short of imposing the most severe penalties that had been under consideration.
