India, Oct. 18 -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that two oil tankers caught fire after striking naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route. Each vessel was reportedly carrying around two million barrels of crude oil, although their identities and the origin of their cargo remain unknown.

Iran's official IRNA news agency reported that the first incident triggered an explosion and a major fire, while the second tanker was engulfed in flames. The IRGC alleged that both ships had switched off their navigation and radar systems and attempted to use a route that Iran had not authorised.
