India, Aug. 18 -- A cargo vessel was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, leaving the engine room damaged and one crew member injured, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The incident has renewed concerns over shipping safety in the strategic waterway as tensions between the US and Iran continue to escalate.

The remaining crew members were being assisted by the Omani Coast Guard, the maritime agency said.
