India, May 26 -- The United States military has launched "self-defence" air strikes against targets in southern Iran, including coastal missile launch sites and mine-laying boats. The operations, confirmed by US Central Command (CENTCOM), focused heavily on the strategic port city of Bandar Abbas, near the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes come in contrast to the claims by President Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that a peace deal is imminent.
