India, May 24 -- Strategic circles in Dhaka debate implications of deeper military cooperation with the United States

Two long-pending United States defence agreements with Bangladesh have moved back to the forefront of strategic discussion in Dhaka, with defence observers increasingly of the view that the current political environment may be more open to signing them than under the previous government.

The two agreements, ACSA (Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement) and GSOMIA (General Security of Military Information Agreement), have remained under discussion between Washington and Dhaka for several years and are viewed by the US as frameworks for expanding defence cooperation.
