According to the agency, already, 2,877 deaths are correlated with the sweltering temperatures experienced this summer. Analysis indicates that if the weather stays hot, the year 2026 may beat the record that was set in 2022. This information highlights the existing health threats due to extended periods of extreme heat, especially amongst older people, those with health problems and groups affected by any vulnerabilities.
