India, July 7 -- UK's King Charles III climbed into the commander's seat of a Challenger 2 main battle tank on Monday, taking a spin around an arena at the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, during his first official visit to the Royal Tank Regiment since becoming its Colonel-in-Chief in 2023.

The 77-year-old monarch, wearing a crew guard helmet with sunglasses beneath it, was driven around the museum grounds as the more than 60-ton vehicle kicked up dust before onlookers, part of a day of engagements built around the regiment's annual Families Day, an event honouring the relatives of serving personnel.
