India, July 16 -- Britain's outgoing Labour government has announced a mandatory overnight social media curfew that will, by default, lock 16 and 17-year-olds out of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook and X between midnight and 6 am every night.

The restrictive measure is being viewed as the country's most sweeping attempt yet to protect older teenagers from what UK ministers describe as the "most addictive" features of the online world.

Britain's Technology Secretary Liz Kendall said the measures would be "crucial in helping young people get the sleep they need, focus on school and college, and spend more quality time with family and friends, all of which are fundamental to building a happy, healthy and fulfilling adult lif...
