India, June 25 -- The Met Office has extended its red extreme heat warning as the UK braces for another surge in temperatures, with forecasts suggesting highs could reach 38degC in parts of London and south-eastern England. The warning, which remains in effect from midnight until 9 pm on Friday, follows a day of record-breaking June temperatures, with 36.1degC provisionally recorded in Gosport, Hampshire.
