India, July 24 -- Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury moved a step closer to his long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua after defeating Poland's Mariusz Wach in a low-key comeback bout at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, on Friday (July 24). Fury dominated proceedings before the veteran Wach retired on his stool at the start of the eighth round, handing the Briton the 36th victory of his professional career.

Competing in front of a crowd of around 1,500 spectators, Fury controlled the contest from the opening bell and comfortably outboxed the 46-year-old Pole.
