India, Aug. 21 -- The Indian singles campaign at the BWF World Championships 2026 is over, but the hopes for a medal are certainly not. Today, August 21, in the women's doubles quarterfinals, India's star duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are in action. They are set to face a formidable challenge against the Chinese pair of Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian.

A victory today in the quarterfinals would open doors for Treesa and Gayatri to at least a bronze medal. But, standing in the way of a historic medal is the Chinese duo of Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian.

Treesa and Gayatri defeated Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi with a final score of 21-16, 21-12 in the orund of 16 match.
