India, April 20 -- Normal life was severely affected on Monday following a "Chakka Jam" call by transporters, bringing public transport to a grinding halt across several parts of the Valley. Commuters, including patients, students, and daily wage earners, were left stranded on roadsides as buses, minibuses, and taxis remained off the roads.
The worst-hit were those trying to reach hospitals and educational institutions. Several patients reportedly faced delays in accessing medical care, while students struggled to reach their schools on time. With no alternative arrangements in place, many were seen walking long distances to reach their destinations, highlighting the extent of public suffering caused by the strike.
