India, July 14 -- A 74-year-old pilot from Westchester County was killed Sunday evening when his single-engine aircraft plunged into a densely wooded area just short of the runway at Piseco Airport, marking the second major aviation accident in the Adirondack wilderness within a single week.

The victim, identified by law enforcement as Kenneth J. Andreau of Valhalla, New York, was the sole occupant of a single-engine Cessna. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, emergency dispatchers received the initial report of the crash at 7:09 p.m. on Sunday.
