The Ankara Rule: Be Unavoidable
India, July 19 -- How Turkey monetized defiance, why China may build an irrational pipeline, what India must decide before asked.
Consider what Turkey is reportedly about to accomplish. In 2019 it bought Russian S-400 missiles, got expelled from the F-35 programme, and absorbed US sanctions.
In July 2026 it hosted NATO's summit. No censure, "tremendous unity" declared in its capital. Now, with Moscow reportedly viewing the sale "positively," Ankara is negotiating to sell those same S-400s to the UAE, with F-35 readmission dangled as the reward. Defect, extract immunity, then sell the defection back at a profit. No state has monetized both directions of the same crisis before.
