India, June 6 -- Suryakumar Yadav congratulated Shreyas Iyer, who has succeeded him to become India's new T20I captain. Besides losing captaincy, Surya has also been removed from the squad after a below-par IPL campaign. He is currently leading Triumph Knights MNE at the ongoing T20 Mumbai League 2026. Hours after Iyer's appointment as the T20I skipper, Surya appeared at the Wankhede Stadium to play a match against SOBO Mumbai Falcons on Saturday evening. When asked about the leadership shake-up in the national team, Surya backed Iyer, wishing him the best for the future assignments.
