India, Aug. 28 -- US President Donald Trump announced that the strategic Strait of Hormuz is open, using the phrase "that sucker is open" to declare that international oil tankers have successfully resumed transit. According to a US Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesperson, the American military has helped facilitate the transit of approximately 1,500 commercial vessels and 750 million barrels of crude oil through the crucial corridor since early May 2026.
