India, May 1 -- Indian stock markets are not operating today, May 1, 2026, due to Maharashtra Day, which falls on the same date as Labour Day (May Day). As a result, trading activities across major segments have been closed for the day.
Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) have suspended trading in multiple segments. These include equities, equity derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLBs), currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives. Investors will not be able to carry out any transactions in these categories today.
