India, Sept. 25 -- Sreeja Akula will face North Korea's Pyon Song Gyong in the women's singles Round of 32 at the Asian Games 2026 on Friday, September 25 at SKY HALL TOYOTA in Toyota, Japan.

The match comes after a challenging team-event campaign for both players. Sreeja helped India reach the women's team quarter-finals, while Pyon was part of the North Korean side that went on to reach the final.

The 28-year-old Indian had an eventful run in the women's team competition. India began with a 3-0 win over Indonesia, with Sreeja beating Ni Ketut Maharani 11-8, 11-6, 11-7, 11-6.

Against Singapore, Sreeja was involved in two matches. She first lost to Loy Ming 8-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4, 6-11, before returning to beat Jian Zeng 6-11, 11-3, 11...
