India, Aug. 13 -- The total solar eclipse of August 12, 2026, has swept across parts of the Northern Hemisphere, bringing a rare period of darkness to locations along the path of totality. The Moon moved directly between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the Sun for observers in parts of Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain.

The celestial event also produced a partial solar eclipse across a much wider region, giving millions of people across Europe and other areas an opportunity to watch the Moon cover a portion of the Sun. NASA confirmed that the August 12 eclipse was the only total solar eclipse of 2026.
