India, Aug. 12 -- Australians looking for the August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse will not be able to watch the event directly from Australia. The eclipse's visibility zone covers parts of the Northern Hemisphere, with totality crossing Russia, Greenland, Iceland, Spain and a small part of Portugal. Australia sits outside the eclipse's visibility area.

That means there will be no total or partial solar eclipse visible from Australian cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra or Darwin on August 12. Timeanddate's Australia eclipse listing shows the next solar eclipse visible from Australia as the July 22, 2028 total solar eclipse.
