India, Aug. 12 -- A total solar eclipse will occur on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with the path of totality passing through remote parts of northern Russia before extending across the North Pole towards Greenland, Iceland and Spain. While totality will be visible only from a narrow and largely uninhabited region, several parts of Russia will experience a partial solar eclipse.

The eclipse will be particularly challenging to observe from much of Russia because the Sun will remain very close to the horizon during the event.
