India, Oct. 6 -- Smriti Mandhana has been appointed the new captain of the Indian women's cricket team, with the BCCI confirming a major leadership change on Tuesday. Mandhana will take charge as India's full-time white-ball captain, succeeding Harmanpreet Kaur and beginning a new phase for the team. The 29-year-old brings extensive international experience to the position, having represented India since 2013 and already led the side in 18 T20Is and four ODIs.
