India, Oct. 8 -- Actor and writer Simon Pegg has opened up about being diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 56. He said the diagnosis helped explain several things he had struggled with for years. Known for his work in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the Mission: Impossible franchise, Pegg said there had been a long period of suspicion before he finally decided to seek a formal diagnosis.

Speaking on the podcast I'm ADHD! No You're Not, Pegg explained that he wanted to understand himself better and said the diagnosis "confirmed a lot of stuff that I'd been wrestling with." He also revealed that he had previously considered some of his difficulties to be a "just character fault."
