India, Oct. 24 -- Sharad Purnima is among the most auspicious full-moon festivals in Hinduism. Sharad Purnima will be celebrated in the month of October. The festival is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashwin, and is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and is also linked to Lord Krishna's divine Maha Raas. The festival, known variously as Kojagari Purnima, Kojagiri Purnima and Sharad Poonam, is celebrated with prayers, fasting, traditional offerings and moonlight rituals. Devotees believe that on this night, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped, and they receive prosperity, happiness, and good fortune. One of the most popular traditions is making rice kheer.
