India, Sept. 29 -- India's Shapath Bharadwaj kept his nerve when it mattered most to book a place in the men's trap individual final at the 2026 Asian Games. The 24-year-old shooter from Meerut finished the qualification stage on 117 points, leaving him tied for seventh place and forcing a three-way shoot-off for the remaining spots. Bharadwaj then held his composure against Qatar's Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Kazakhstan's Alisher Aisalbayev, eventually getting past Al-Rumaihi to grab the eighth and final qualification spot in the medal round. His progress came despite India's men's trap team, featuring Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai and Ahvar Rizvi, finishing sixth with 339 points and missing out on a team medal.
