India, Oct. 1 -- The Indian benchmark index is on the defensive mode on Thursday, with the Sensex trading at about 120 points lower in early trading as foreign selling, high US treasury yields, and mixed external cues pulled down the market mood.
The BSE Sensex was trading at 72,192.89 levels in early trade, down by 287.40 points or 0.40% before regaining some ground. As of 9:44 am IST, the index was trading 0.12% lower at 72,389.51. Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 index also declined 0.28% to 22,558.95 at the same point.
The weakness in the market was notwithstanding some respite due to the falling prices of crude oil. The markets were looking out for foreign inflows, rupee, US bond yields, and other global markets.
