India, Sept. 15 -- Sensex Today, September 15, 2026: Indian stock market indices started trading positive for Tuesday's session following five consecutive weeks of declines. The Sensex index jumped 397.37 points or 0.53% to open at 75,369.63 levels, whereas the Nifty 50 added 0.45% to open at 23,503.65.

Why Is the Sensex Rising Today?

This rally benefited from the purchasing of IT stocks following the latest fall in equity markets. The Nifty IT index rallied by nearly 4%, and HDFC Bank by 3%. Other buyers also sought bargain purchases following the fifth consecutive weekly drop in the indices. Nevertheless, the gains were constrained due to the high levels of crude oil prices, US treasury yields, and the geopolitics in West Asia.
