India, Sept. 25 -- The BSE Sensex was trading at 73,738.11 around 12:00 PM IST on Friday, September 25, 2026, gaining 157.57 points, or 0.21%. The index opened slightly lower at 73,525.92 after plunging 1,247.71 points, or 1.67%, in the previous session to close at 73,580.54. The Indian stock market remained volatile on Friday as investors assessed the impact of Thursday's sharp sell-off, when both the Sensex and Nifty recorded their steepest single-session decline in 10 weeks. The Nifty 50 had dropped 383.70 points, or 1.64%, to end Thursday's session at 23,063.10.
