India, July 29 -- As schools across the country bear the brunt of heavy monsoon downpour, a perennial question buzzes in parents' and students' ears: Will schools open or close on Thursday, July 30, 2026? The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out rain alerts for various states with a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning in the next 24 hours. In terms of weather, although continued monitoring of the weather conditions will be required, so far the government has not declared any national school holiday. The states and district administration will take a decision to close or not.
