India, Aug. 7 -- The US stock market held firmly in positive territory today as investors digested weaker-than-expected jobs data and rising hopes the Federal Reserve may hold off on any further interest rate hikes. Tech, software and growth stocks helped lift the S&P 500 to within striking distance of record high territory.

The S&P 500 at 7,754.43, up 44.47 points, or 0.58% and the index was trading near its recent 52-week high of 7,793.68 set on August 5, 2026. The benchmark index has gathered strong momentum on different time frame, up 3.54% in last five sessions, 3.34% in one month, 5.69% in three months, 13.28% in year-to-date and 22.31% in one year.
