India, Sept. 30 -- It was an improved start for Wall Street on September 30 as all the major US indices closed higher due to better reactions from the markets following lower than expected inflation numbers and latest figures regarding the state of the US economy.

The S&P 500 Index settled at 7,721.64, marking a rise of 50.80 points or 0.66% and the Nasdaq index registered a higher close of 27,078.00, which marked an improvement of 280.46 points or 1.05% whereas the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 93.10 points or 0.18% higher at 51,443.02. Apart from stock prices, other things on which traders kept an eye include 10 year US treasury yield at 5.25%, Brent crude at $98.43 per barrel and latest inflation numbers.
