India, Sept. 13 -- Ryan Garcia produced a dominant performance in Las Vegas on Saturday, stopping Britain's Conor Benn in the second round to successfully defend his WBC welterweight title. The American champion dropped Benn with a powerful right hand, and although the Briton managed to beat the count and get back on his feet, Garcia immediately went back on the attack.

Garcia continued unloading punches until referee Thomas Taylor stepped in to end the contest, handing the champion a second-round TKO victory. The win improved Garcia's record to 26-2 with 21 knockouts and marked his first defense of the WBC welterweight crown, which he captured against Mario Barrios in February. It was also only his third bout at 147 pounds.
