Russian Oil Sanctions: UK Eases Sanctions on Russian Oil as Prices Surge to an All-Time High
India, May 21 -- The Keir Starmer-led British Government has eased its stance on importing Russian Crude Oil, a move that is intended to avoid supply problems during the Iran crisis. This includes waivers on sanctions blocking purchases of jet fuel and diesel originating in Russia but refined in countries such as India and Turkey.
Not So Sudden Policy Shift
The UK government had also issued a license in October 2025, allowing Russian LNG to continue moving through sanctioned shipping routes until January 1, 2027.
