India, Oct. 16 -- Chelsea captain Reece James has undergone successful knee surgery, handing the Premier League club another injury setback involving their England international defender.

The 26-year-old has already started his rehabilitation, but Chelsea have not provided an official timeframe for his return.

Reports indicate that James could be sidelined for around three months, potentially keeping him out of action until 2027.

The club confirmed the procedure on Friday, October 16, after medical assessments determined that surgery was necessary following a knee injury sustained during training.
