India, July 22 -- Rebel Wilson has secured a legal victory in the long running dispute surrounding her directorial debut, The Deb. An Australian court has dismissed a defamation lawsuit brought against the Hollywood actor by Charlotte MacInnes who played the lead role in the musical comedy.

According to CNN, MacInnes accused Wilson of making false claims about her in Instagram posts that were seen by millions of followers. She argued that the posts damaged her reputation, exposed her to online abuse and affected her professional opportunities. But Justice Elizabeth Raper ruled in Wilson's favour and dismissed the case. The judge further ordered MacInnes to pay legal costs.
