India, Aug. 27 -- Raksha Bandhan 2026 will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, and students in several states are set to get a holiday on the occasion. However, schools will not be closed uniformly across India, as holiday schedules depend on state calendars, local orders and individual school policies.

Will Schools Be Open or Closed on August 28?

Schools are expected to remain closed in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand on August 28 for Raksha Bandhan. The holiday applies to government and aided schools according to the applicable state holiday calendars.
