India, Sept. 11 -- Rajasthan's urban political contest entered its final stretch on Friday as voters began choosing their local representatives across 147 urban local bodies. From 7 am, more than 87.60 lakh registered voters could cast their ballots at 9,758 polling stations covering 4,774 wards, with 18,266 candidates in the fray.

The second phase includes six municipal corporations, Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur and Pali, along with municipal councils and municipalities across the state.

The vote comes after a strong first phase that recorded 76.41% turnout, raising expectations of another high participation rate.
