Rahul plans solo strategy for UP after Bengal
India, May 24 -- Congress may distance itself from alliances and contest Uttar Pradesh elections independently.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, may gradually begin to distance himself from coalition politics. If sources are to be believed, following its approach in West Bengal, the Congress party may adopt a policy of "going it alone" in Uttar Pradesh as well.
However, sensing this potential shift, the Samajwadi Party has already begun preparations to contest all 403 Assembly seats. The Congress party has reportedly come to the conclusion that contesting elections in Uttar Pradesh as part of a coalition would yield no tangible benefits.
