India, June 7 -- Cabinet formation tensions surface as senior Congress leaders openly express discontent

Barely three days after Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar assumed office, signs of discontent within the Karnataka Congress have erupted into the open, exposing fault lines that the party leadership had hoped would be settled with the formation of the new cabinet.

The latest flashpoint came on Friday when senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy reportedly tendered his resignation from the cabinet, expressing dissatisfaction over the portfolio allocated to him. He was allocated the Medium and Large Irrigation (Water Resources) Ministry.
