India, Aug. 27 -- Peter Cullen, the legendary voice actor best known for giving life to Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise, has died at the age of 85. Cullen died at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

His agent confirmed his death to TMZ. His family confirmed the news in a statement, saying Cullen "passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family - and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide."

The family also asked fans to remember his legacy through kindness and service to others, adding: "be strong enough to be gentle."
