India, Aug. 25 -- The Perseid meteor shower, which lit up night skies around its peak on 12 and 13 August, could put on an even more dazzling display in 2028, according to meteor scientists who say Jupiter's gravity may pull extra debris from a passing comet into Earth's path.

Robert Lunsford, a meteor expert with the American Meteor Society, told Space.com that the giant planet's periodic close approach to the comet responsible for the Perseids could raise hourly meteor rates well above what skywatchers are used to seeing.
