India, June 26 -- A major fire broke out at a department store in Peckham, south-east London, on Thursday evening, sending thick black smoke into the sky and triggering a large emergency response. Around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines rushed to Rye Lane to tackle the blaze, while residents were asked to keep their windows shut and avoid the area. The fire has now been brought under control, and an investigation is underway to find out what caused it. The London Fire Brigade received the emergency call just before 9 PM.
