India, Sept. 25 -- Taylor Swift's new song Patient Zero is out now as part of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore but the story behind the track has fans looking beyond the music itself. The song explores an unusual situation in which the new girlfriend of an ex reaches out to a woman who dated him before and asks whether she experienced the same things.

Taylor has now explained where the idea for the song came from and revealed that a conversation with her friends inspired her to tell the story from the perspective of the woman who has already "been through it."
