India, Aug. 20 -- P.V. Sindhu has booked her place in the women's singles Round of 16 at the BWF World Championships in New Delhi, where she will face China's Wang Zhi Yi on Thursday. The ninth-seeded Indian began her campaign with a dominant 21-7, 21-11 win over Ireland's Sophia Noble in just 29 minutes before overcoming Canada's Zhang Wen Yu 21-16, 21-17 in the second round.

Sindhu looked composed throughout her latest outing, making a fast start and taking a 11-9 lead into the interval before maintaining her advantage to close out the match in straight games. Wang Zhi Yi represents a tougher test, but Sindhu can draw confidence from her unbeaten record against Chinese opponents at the World Championships.
