India, Sept. 18 -- English football club Oxford United has issued a sincere public apology and completely withdrawn a new clothing line after printing United 93 on the back of items. The apparel design was originally intended to reference the historic founding year of the club back in 1893.

However, it inadvertently mirrored the tragic call sign of United Airlines Flight 93, one of the commercial passenger planes hijacked during the devastating events of 9 11.

The club openly admitted that the entire collection was released without proper understanding of the sensitive historical context and associations linked to the number.
