India, Aug. 30 -- The Old Farmer's Almanac has released its winter 2026-27 forecast for the United States, and the outlook points to a season of sharp regional differences. Much of the country could experience near-normal or above-normal temperatures, but parts of the Northeast, Appalachians, Ohio Valley, West and Alaska could still face significant cold and snow.

The forecast comes as El Nino strengthens across the Pacific. NOAA's Climate Prediction Center says there is a greater than 90% chance of a very strong El Nino during the Northern Hemisphere fall and winter of 2026-27.
