India, Aug. 23 -- The routine trade journey from Odisha to Singapore turned into a significant maritime crisis when a Panama-registered cargo ship sank in the Bay of Bengal, about 240 nautical miles from the Paradip coast. The ship was transporting 24 crew members and iron ore cargo, but lost communication with officials. Indian maritime authorities initiated the search-and-rescue operation. So far, two crew members have been rescued in the process, as search operations to find other crew members continue.
