India, Sept. 20 -- North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile into the sea off the eastern side of the Korean Peninsula on Sunday, according to Japan's defence ministry. South Korea separately reported that Pyongyang had fired an unidentified projectile. Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that the missile fell outside Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

South Korea's presidential office held a National Security Council (NSC) meeting following reports of the launch.
